iPhone Error - “Unable to Join Network Failure (error -3)”

This is a typical error when your iPhone is unable to connect to Wi-Fi network. If you are those unlucky ones who received this error message “Unable to Join Network Failure (error -3)”, you can try the following steps.

  1. Verify that the network name and security setting are correct. SSID and WEP settings are the keys to access a Wi-Fi network. Incorrect entries would get denied, and you would eventually receive the “Unable to Join Network Failure (error -3)” error message.
  2. Verify that the setting on the Wi-Fi access point or router is properly configured. Things to check should include the followings:
    • MAC address filtering - is it on or off?
    • Security settings on the router - it should match the iPod touch security setting such as WEP password or WPA2…etc.
    • Disabling (QoS) quality of service if QoS is turned on.
  3. If these steps fail to resolve “Unable to Join Network Failure (error -3)”, re-enter the network name (SSID) and security setting password on the iPhone. To accomplish this, from Home screen, tab Settings > Wi-Fi > Other (under Choose a Network), then type the correct information.

The above steps should fix “Unable to Join Network Failure (error -3)” on the iPhone. If it still doesn’t work, we should consider T-Mobile’s G1. :)  Good luck!

iPhone Email: Can’t Send Email in iPhone

One of the nicest thing we like about iPhone is the sleek email Client. Emailing on an iPhone is beautiful when it’s working correctly. What should you do if it stops working? How would you fix email in iPhone if you are not able to send or receive email? Actually, it’s fairly straight-forward. Here’s how to do it.

  1. Make sure that you have a good-working Internet connectivity. You can verify this by going into  your Safari Internet browser and try some reliable websites such as Google or Yahoo. If you are not on a Wi-Fi connection, make sure you see either 3G, EDGE, or GPRS on the upper left of the display. This indication means that your connection is working.
  2. Verify that you have a correct email settings. You can likely obtain this information from your ISP’s.  Such information likely include smtp and Pop3 information.
  3. Make sure that your email account is set up. To accomplish this, select Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account. From here, choose the respective email account and enter the correct account information.
  4. Last of all, confirm if you have the correct password. Like most email clients, iPhone use “*” when you type the password. It is very difficult to tell if you type it correctly.

That’s it. If you have tried all of the steps above, you should be able to fix “can’t send mail” problem in iPhone. What if you still have problems after you go through the instructions?  Well, guess you are out of luck. You may have to contact Apple to replace your iPhone.
